ON’s Essential Amino Energy Product Review

amino energy optimum nutrition

This just might be my new favorite pre-workout/intra-workout ever! Essential AmiN.O Energy product highlights:

  • optimum nutrition essential amino Increased energy and focus for improved workout & exercise experience
  • Provide essential amino acids for muscle recovery and growth
  • Increased Nitric Oxide (hence the strange capitalization of N.O. in “amino”)
  • Exercise longer and harder

One could argue that the old-school days of pre-workouts (original jack-3d anyone?) have come and gone. Athletes and body builders alike are looking for a little more bang for their buck. In addition to energy, top performers require fuel for sustained endurance, muscle recovery, and fortification against mental depletion.

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. They provide the fuel for growth and sustain the proper functions and DNA replications of the body. We usually obtain amino acids through our food, but highly active people can easily deplete. Supplementing amino acids have been shown to improve training efficiencies in a number of clinical studies.

Combining amino acids with effective energy boosting ingredients makes for a fantastic pre-workout supplement.

Personal Testing of Amino Energy

First and foremost, I sincerely enjoyed this product. I have been taking Oxipump for two cycles prior to AmiNO Energy, but I am happy I switched it up. Note: I still think Oxipump is my #1 pre-workout, but as an amino acid product pre-workout hybrid, this reigns king.

The energy is legit, fueling me throughout my workout (and usually the rest of the day). I can genuinely feel the pump raging, even before I start lifting. Energy boost is comparable to Oxipump and my workouts are usually great when using either product.

The primary difference is creatine. Essential AmiNO Energy is first and foremost an Amino Acid supplement, then energy, then N.O. booster. The lack of creatine isn’t a huge deal, but a minor inconvenience as it is essential to maximizing gains. Creatine is one of the cheapest ingredients to supplement. I would recommend stacking with one of our top ranked creatine monohydrate products.

Other Customer Reviews

The experience of one user is hardly proof of a products effectiveness. We scoured the web (places like amazon reviews, bodybuilding.com, reddit, and other review blogs like ours). Overall opinion is very positive. Most people enjoy the clean energy boost and find it to be more on the intense side.

Flavor comparison: cool aid. Yumm.

Company Product Claims

Optimum Nutrion has been around for a long time and is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) supplement manufacturer in the United States. Their protein powder Gold Standard 100% Whey is the number one selling protein of all time. The point – this is a company you can trust. No label stuffing concerns here.

According to the Optimum Nutrition Website, Essential AmiNO Energy will boost Energy and Focus, provide your body with essential amino acids, and aid in muscle recovery.

We pretty much said the same thing, so I’m gonna go ahead and say their claims check out.

Ingredient Profile Analysis

Essential amiN.O. energy supplement facts panel Essential AmiN.O. Energy provides great ingredients for muscle growth. It’s a brilliant concept… increased energy for more intense workouts, while boosting blood flow and amino acids (the building blocks of protein) for timely muscle nutrition and optimal growth.

Some of our favorite ingredients are as followed:

Micronized Taurine: Taurine is an amino acid that has notable evidence showing increased blood flow. Additionally, taurine is used by athletes to increase endurance and longevity.

Micronized L-Glutamine: Vegatarians, vegans, and occasionally intense athletes often become deficient in L-Glutamine (mostly found in meats and eggs). Some evidence shows Glutamine promoting growth hormone levels, immunity, and hydrating muscle cells.

Micronized L-Arginine: L-Arginine is a conditional essential amino acid. It is essential for nitric oxide and blood flow. The effects of supplementation are improved blood flow and circulation. This has obvious benefits to athletes.

Micronized Citrulline: L-Citrulline converts to L-Argine in the kidneys, making it arguably more effective than L-arginine supplementation. Ultimately, the effects of Citrulline supplementation is reduced fatigue and improved endurance for athletes. Supplementing both is believed to have synergistic effects, although I could not find any studies to support this.

Micronized L-Tyrosine: Tyrosine is a great amino acid that has been shown to reduce stress and improve cognition. It works by replenishing neurotransmitters and hormones that are reduced by stress.

CarnoSyn Beta-Alanine: A branded form of Beta Alanine with studies showing increased muscle endurance and reduced fatigue. Additional benefits shown by their studies include both increased strength and reduced recovery time. Check it out here.

Energy: 160mg of caffeine, green tea extract, and green coffee. The green tea makes for a much more balanced energy with less of a chance of crash. IMO.

Remember: Amino Acids are the building blocks of proteins. Protein is required for muscle growth. Therefor, amino acids are required for muscle growth. Make sure you are getting sufficient amounts!

Well if you are reading this review, chances are you are on the fence wether or not AmiNO Energy is worth the expense (or opportunity cost compared to another product). Let me be frank and say, you will not be disappointed. This is a great product and is 100% worth a try.

Prices are pretty consistent all over, but I would recommend buying from Amazon as they have the cheapest and fastest shipping. Buy from Amazon by clicking here.

I also highly recommend blue raspberry. It is beyond delicious. My wife craves ice cream and treats – I crave blue raspberry Essential AmiN.O. Energy.
