Cellucor C4 Ripped Review Compared to Original C4 and C4 Sport

C4 RippedFor the past 10 years, Cellucor C4 has been a high ranker and well-known pre workout in the fitness industry. Thanks to wide availability and great marketing, we expect this trend to continue on indefinitely!

However is C4 and C4 Ripped really the pre workouts that you want? That’s where we come in to share our experience reviewing C4 Ripped in comparison to the original C4.

The Quick Run-down on C4 Ripped:

  • Contains 1 Gram “Ripped” Blend of L-carnitine, green coffee bean extract, Capsimax cayenne, and forskolin.
  • Does not contain creatine nitrate or Teacrine found in the original C4.
  • Priced $10 Higher than the original C4
  • Slightly less energy than the original C4 due to loss of Teacrine.

SHQ’s C4 Ripped Review

We enjoyed Cellucor’s C4 Ripped for two weeks straight. During this review period, we didn’t have any major problems with C4, however we also were not blown away or given any real reason to pick this product above others in the market.

The best way to summarize taking C4 Ripped pre workout, is that it’s just like the original C4 with just a little less energy.

It’s totally safe to take on a daily basis, as the caffeine is quite low (yet still in the effective range), however, it is on the pricey side for such a minimal pre workout.

Did C4 Ripped Help Burn Fat?

It may have helped, but we really didn’t notice any extra fat metabolism. Taking C4 ripped probably isn’t the hybrid between a pre workout and thermogenic fat burner like many people would hope for.

Did C4 Ripped Taste Good?

Yes, of course! All Cellucor products taste good. This is a double edged sword though if you wish to avoid artificial sweeteners, flavors, and colors as all C4 variants are loaded with them.

How Was The Overall Workout Experience with C4 Ripped?

Overall, the C4 Ripped experience wasn’t bad at all. The energy was there, it wasn’t jittery, and we were able to do cardio, lifting, and high-intensity training – all no problem.

But, it didn’t provide a notably great experience like we’d expect from something that costs $40. Likewise, this pre workout is marketed in a way that it claims to be an effective fat burner… That didn’t appear to be the case though.

Thoughts on the C4 Ripped Formula

Again, this formula totals about 4 grams in active ingredients per serving. So, there really isn’t a lot to say here. Yes, this is a decent low-caffeine moderate energy pre workout… But will it do much besides provide energy? Probably not. This makes the $40 price point steep.

Does C4 Ripped Rank as a top pre workout?

C4 Ripped itself does not rank as a top pre workout, but we do give credit to the whole C4 Pre Workout line on our top rated pre workouts list. The whole C4 line as a group ranks in at the #9 place for this list. This is based on brand age, product availability, and the fact that they don’t put in risky ingredients to cheat their way into glory like a lot of other brands try to do.

Why Is C4 Original and C4 Sport Better?

We believe that both C4 Original and C4 Sport pre workouts are better than the Ripped variation. This is because of two logical reasons:

  1. C4 Ripped has less energy and really doesn’t burn extra fat
  2. C4 Ripped is significantly more expensive than C4 Original and C4 Sport

Due to this, we strongly recommend that you consider C4 Original or C4 Sort in-place of C4 Ripped if you are a Cellucor fan.

To summarize, C4 Original is just like C4 Ripped except C4 Original doesn’t contain that 1 gram fat burning matrix. Instead, C4 Original contains Teacrine Theacrine (which some say burns fat) as well as creatine nitrate. We like both of these ingredients (even though creatine nitrate isn’t the best creatine type).

C4 sport on the other-hand doesn’t contain the Teacrine or the Creatine Nitrate… But it does contain creatine monohydrate.

Where Will You Find C4 Original or C4 Sport?

C4 original is literally in any supplement shop that sells Cellucor products. C4 Sport on the other-hand, we’ve only found at Walmart. Pricewise, C4 original is about $30 per 30 servings and C4 sport is about $20 per 30 servings.

Head to head, C4 Original is a better pre workout that C4 Sport, but you can’t deny that $20 for 30 servings of C4 Sport isn’t a good deal! For that reason, if you are short on cash and not awfully picky when it comes to pre workouts – go with C4 Sport.

Or, if you are on vacation and can’t bring that powder back home with you, just grab some C4 sport.

This concludes our review, if you would like to see our historical review of the elder Cellucor C4 Extreme which used to contain the awesome Synephrine… Look below. We had given it a pretty great review (this was also way before great pre workouts like pre-jym and BULK hit the scene, so keep that in mind).

Historical C4 Extreme Review

Cellucor’s C4 Extreme pre-workout supplement has topped the list for years. An all around fantastic product providing excellent pump and energy to take your lifts to the next level.

C4 has a very good profile of ingredients, which other companies try and mirror, but do so with lesser quality. You can trust that this product contains some of the highest quality and purity ingredients. The proof is in the results. C4 has some of the best and most consistant reviews by hundreds of loyal fans.

C4 contains the ingredients all good pre workouts should contain. Some of these include creatine nitrate which absorbs better then monohydrate and works as a vasodilator to increase blood nutrient delivery and boost muscle pumps. Additional essential ingredients include beta alanine for reduced fatigue, and arginine akg for additional vasodilation. Some semi unique ingredients include a b-vitamin blast for improved muscle performance and vitamin c – which is a great safeguard for the temporary drop in immune system after working out.

Not only is this product super effective, but it tastes great and has a number of different available flavors. We recommend fruit punch as some of the other flavors can taste  a little funky.

Downsides: There are a lot of dyes in all of their flavors. An unnecessary amount. Not a big deal for a lot of people, but may be a deal breaker for others.

Our opinion and the opinion of many customer reviews say its great.
An average priced pre-workout. Cant complain here, but definitely not a wow category.
Overall this is supplementHQ.com's favorite pre workout supplement available and we highly recommend giving it a try.
