The Low Down: Procera AVH Review

Procera AVH packagingProcera AVH is one of only a couple products on GNC shelves labeled as a cognitive enhancer. It is generally designed for increased memory for people with age-related memory loss. But the formula is also geared to improve focus and mental energy. Procera AVH is a very simple product—with only three ingredients it may not be the most balanced formula but it does have effect.

In describing Procera AVH we’ve got to start with the name. First things first, AVH stands for the three ingredients in the formula—Acetyl L-Carnitine, Vinpocetine, and Huperzine.

All of these ingredients have been well tested to show a cognitive benefit. Acetyl L-Carnitine at very high dosages has been shown to improve memory and is the weaker of the three ingredients in the formula. Vinpocetine has been shown to improve blood flood and therefore would improve many cognitive aspects including memory and attention. Huperzine A inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine (a key neurotransmitter). Acetylcholine is the “learning neurotransmitter” and closely associated with memory.

The Pros: The ingredients are effective for memory and it’s affordable. The Cons: The formula doesn’t do much more for you than that. This is a great product to order if you are looking to find a product that is backed by a solid retailer like GNC and you are only looking for memory enhancements. For other cognitive enhancers, like Procera AVH, click to see how it ranks on our 10 best cognitive enhancers post.

Procera AVH
Increased blood flow from vinpocetine is weak focus.
Procera AVH's formula is almost entirely geared towards improving memory and learning. All 3 ingredients help improve memory but the formula is devoid of the strongest memory ingredient bacopa monnieri.
Huperzine A and Vinpocetine may provide mental energy but not anything noticeable.
At $40 for 60 tablets it's a very affordable option.
Although the blend does not have very many ingredients, the ingredients used are effective. It's an affordable option for people just looking for memory.
